  1. 3D-XplorMath (3D-XplorMath is a Mathematical Visualization program. The older original version, written in Pascal, runs only on on Macintosh computers, but there is also a newer cross-platform Java version, called 3D-XplorMath-J, that while still having fewer features and Exhibits, is currently under intensive development and is rapidly catching up with its older sister).
  2. AXIOM
  3. ARPACK
  4. ACE/gr (2D plotting tool for X Window System. It uses an OSF Motif-based user interface, which is the reason why it’s also known as Xmgr. ACE/gr runs on practically any version of Unix. It has been successfully ported to VMS, with the Win95/NT and OS/2 ports being in the alpha stage).
  5. Grace (Descendant of ACE/gr)
  6. cplex
  7. Decision Tree for Optimization Software
  8. FElt (FElt is an open source system for finite
    element analysis)
  9. gams (The General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) is a high-level modeling
system for mathematical programming and optimization. It consists of a
language compiler and a stable of integrated high-performance solvers.
GAMS is tailored for complex, large scale modeling applications, and
allows you to build large maintainable models that can be adapted
    quickly to new situations.)
  10. GAP (GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with
    particular emphasis on
    Computational Group Theory.
    GAP provides a

    programming language
, a library of thousands of
    functions implementing
algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well
    as large data libraries of
    algebraic objects. See also the
overview and the description of the

    mathematical capabilities
    .
    GAP is used in
research and teaching for studying groups and their representations,
    rings, vector spaces, algebras,
combinatorial structures, and more. The system, including source, is
    distributed freely.
You can study and easily modify or extend it for your special use.

The History of Numerical Analysis

August 6, 2008 sumodirjo Leave a comment

Modern numerical analysis can be credibly said to begin with the 1947 paper by John von Neumann and Herman Goldstine, “Numerical Inverting of Matrices of High Order” (Bulletin of the AMS, Nov. 1947). It is one of the first papers to study rounding error and include discussion of what today is called scientific computing.  Although numerical analysis has a longer and richer history, “modern” numerical analysis, as used here, is characterized by the synergy of the programmable electronic computer, mathematical analysis, and the opportunity and need to solve large and complex problems in applications. The need for advances in applications, such as ballistics prediction, neutron transport, and nonsteady, multidimensional fluid dynamics drove the development of the computer and  depended strongly on advances in numerical analysis and mathematical modeling.

selamat belajar matematika:D

Software Carpentry (belajar programming untuk scientist)

July 15, 2008 sumodirjo Leave a comment

The idea of the “Mathesaurus” is to provide a quick reference for switching to open-source mathematical computation environments for computer algebra, numeric processing and data visualisation.

Kelihatannya harus didownload dan dibaca:D

Millenium Prize Problems

June 13, 2007 sumodirjo Leave a comment

  • P versus NP
  • The Hodge conjecture
  • The Poincaré conjecture
  • The Riemann hypothesis
  • Yang–Mills existence and mass gap
  • Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness
  • The Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture
